She got the red and yellow colored one. It flattens because there are 2 suctions cups on the inside of the foam ball. When the suction cups got dirt on them it wouldnt stay flat very long, it popped up before you could throw it. When we wiped the suction cups off with just our fingers it stayed stuck flat for too long, we could throw this thing from one end of our property to the other and when it hit the ground it still stayed flat. If it pops up to a ball form while in your hand your fingers get pinched in the ball. IT didnt bother my adult fingers too much but my daughter has cried many times from getting her fingers pinched. She hates this toy. It really isnt that much fun. If you play hot potato with it whoever gets the ball when it pops WILL get pinched fingers. After 5 minutes of play my son said "Let's take it back". It takes a lot of force to flatten it and it would not pop up in time to catch it as a ball. It also pinched fingers. Ouch! But two little disks that hold the "phlat" shape together on the outside came off within weeks of purchase, so I can't rate it very highly for durability. He still enjoys it since it can hold the flat shape for a couple of seconds, but hey -- it should have lasted longer than that. |
